Major County Economic Development is a Non-Profit (501C4) Corporation incorporated under the laws of the State of Oklahoma. The identifying words "Major County" are used expressly to describe the area the corporation serves. The corporation is an independent stand alone entity. The corporation is not tax exempt. It must file tax returns and the corporation is required to pay sales tax.
Corporate Bylaws state that Board Members will be appointed by: City of Fairview (1), Board of County Commissioners (2), Fairview Savings and Loan Association (1), Community National Bank (1), Farmers and Merchants National Bank (1), Northwest Technology Center (1) and the appointed Board can further nominate and elect (2) additional Board Members at their discretion.
MCEDC is a county wide economic development organization whose purpose is to create quality jobs through business retention, expansion and recruitment of new business and provide technical assistance, networking and marketing for cities, towns and businesses within Major County.
