MCEDC Purchases 10 Acres for Residential Development -

With MCEDC’s long-range goals for housing in mind, MCEDC has purchased 10 acres on the southeast side of Fairview for additional housing. The land, purchased last month, has utilities at the site, paved access and is located in a quiet area.

In 2023, MCEDC worked with local engineer, Joe Paul Edwards, as well as Lance Bland, LB Homes, to build and sell two custom spec homes in the Landcrest Addition. MCEDC recognizes the area’s housing situation is not fixed with one or two new homes. Long-range housing goals include achieving a diverse range of housing densities, styles and types; prioritizing new housing in areas of opportunity and re-developing neighborhoods.

A plan for the 10 acres is just in the beginning stages and MCEDC is exploring all options including the possibility of dividing the 10 acres into small acreages for families to build their own homes in the rural setting.
